I went for a whistlestop weekend trip to Paris, arriving on the Eurostar at Paris Gare du Nord at 1pm on the Friday and leaving at 7am on the Sunday. I spent one day at Disneyland Paris. But most of this post is about a 1h30 walk exploring some of the sights of the city and some places I’d go to next time.
From my accommodation at Hotel Sofia, I walked to Sacré-Cœur Basilica, a beautiful building in its own right but also with amazing views.
Next up was Place du Tertre (The Artist Square), a bussling square with many local painters, portraitists and caricaturists working in the open air (a great opportunity to get your portrait drawn!).

I walked down La Maison Rose (think cobbled pavements, lamp posts, pink coloured walls and ivy).

Next was a walk passed Moulin Rouge.
I walked by the beautiful Palais Garnier and the Place de l'Opéra.
Next stop was the Louvre, which I think is a must visit, but the Mona Lisa is a lot smaller than I thought it would be!
Then was the Arc De Triomphe. The best bit about going up the Arc De Triomphe instead of the Eiffel Tower (well apart from the much cheaper ticket!) is that your photos will include the Eiffel Tower! When I visited it was €5 for students.
I then walked across the River Seine to Notre Dame, which was free to enter at the time of my visit.
Next Time
I’d like to visit the Catacombs (~€12 at the time of my visit) to see some creepy bones but waiting times can be 3h!
