Natalie Lamb and the Rising Stars Programme: Utility Week Awards 2019

Today I went to Grosvenor House Hotel in London for the first meeting of the 2019-2020 cohort of the Institute of Water Rising Stars at the Utility Week Awards 2019.

I was a little nervous about meeting the others for the first time. We had been talking to each other before the event over WhatsApp but it was difficult to remember who was who from that and also most of the discussions had been about preparing for the event.

We met in a pub before the event, a really great idea, rather than the formal setting of the event. Lucky too, because we didn't have tickets and were wandering around the hotel, which was much better to do as a group and something we could laugh about together.

The event was really nice and the food was amazing. It was a great event for networking with those close to you but I feel I could have worked harder at meeting new people. There was music, a casino and lots of fun little activities like a photo booth, a piano you walk on and chocolate lolly pops.

Overall, I had a great time and met a really lovely bunch of people. At the next event, I'd like to book in some more time to explore because I travelled straight from work then back to work the next day. I would also like to try and talk to more people.

Here's my London postcard from my first Rising Stars event 09/12/19.
