Natalie Lamb and the 10 steps to tackle difficult conversations

1. Name the core problem

2. Select a specific example of how the problem has had an impact, which can be explained in a concise and honest manner

3. Describe your emotions about the problem

4. Clarify what is at stake, including the implication of the problem continuing and how the problem is impacting yourself and/or others

5. Identify your contribution to the problem to acknowledge the role you playing it in and be accountable for that

6. Indicate that you want to resolve the problem, while being genuine and focusing on the ideal situation, including the benefits on the problem being solved and the different emotions this will result in

7. Invite your partner to respond in a sincere way

8. Inquire into your partner's views

9. Discuss what you have leaned and the future steps that are required to reach a resolution

10. Make an agreement and determine your responsibilities in keeping this agreement
